About Us

Expertise in Ferroalloys Since 1917

For well over a century, Elektrowerk Weisweiler (EWW) has stood for quality, innovation, and responsibility. Founded in 1917, our company has evolved from a regional producer to a globally leading manufacturer of low-carbon ferrochrome specialties (LC FeCr).

At our facility in Eschweiler-Weisweiler near Aachen, approximately 145 employees produce up to 32,000 tons of high-quality ferrochrome annually. Our products are used internationally in the superalloy industry—for example, in aerospace, power generation, the chemical industry, and medical technology. In addition, we supply steel and stainless steel mills, foundries, and forges.

Specialized in Customized Solutions

Our strength lies in the production of specialty alloys that are individually tailored to our clients’ requirements. While mass products were once the focus, today we develop high-quality solutions for the most demanding applications—efficiently, precisely, and economically. With our “Analytical Services” division, we additionally offer professional analyses in our in-house laboratory—from material analyses to quality testing.

Globally Connected – Locally Rooted

As part of the publicly traded AFARAK Group headquartered in Finland, we benefit from a strong international network. The chrome ores we process come from our own mines in Turkey, ensuring consistently high raw material quality—from extraction to processing. We guarantee transparent processes and responsible practices throughout the entire value chain.

Certifications underscore our high standards for quality and sustainability:

  • Quality Management according to ISO 9001
  • Energy Management according to DIN EN ISO 50001
  • Membership in the Gütegemeinschaft Metallhüttenschlacke e.V.

Sustainably Into the Future

We are undergoing an ongoing transformation driven by innovation and sustainability. We continuously invest in energy-efficient technologies, increasingly rely on renewable energy sources, and continuously optimize our production processes.

Our goal is clear:

  • Zero-waste production, where no residual materials are generated and all materials are recycled

  • Creating high-quality products while shaping a sustainable and resource-efficient future
